Things to Do & Places to Stay around Lynchburg.
This is Lynchburg's Chamber of Commerce website.  Here you can find all kinds of information about things to do and see in the Lynchburg area.
Another great source of information about things to do and see here.
This is Bedford County's Welcome page with all kinds of information on things to do and see here.  One of the most moving "must see" places is the National D-Day Memorial.  The town of Bedford lost more soldiers on D-Day for its size than any other town in the country.  This memorial is a powerful tribute to that heroic generation.
Guide to "things to do" in Southwest Virginia.  The focus of this site is arts and entertainment, leisure and culture, cuisine and wine, festivals and music.
For a list of places to stay click on the link to the left.  For those staying for a week or more I heartily recommend Extended Stay America (click here for contact details).  They offer the best price, have suite like amenities, and wireless internet access.
Paradise Lake Family Campground is conveniently located off of Hwy 460 between Lynchburg and Appomattox and is only about 15-20 minutes from the airport. Paradise Lake is open all year.
Lynchburg lies at the base of the Blue Ridge mountains and provides easy access to the famous Blue Ridge Parkway.  Weather permitting, flying above the Blue Ridge Parkway is a feast for the eyes.  Driving it is also very rewarding.
Follow this link to Virginia's Natural Bridge.  It is fun to fly over it but this is one of God's wonders that are best appreciated from afoot.
Smith Mountain Lake is an easy flight or drive from Lynchburg and is one of our favorite places.  Boats are easily rented and there is a lot to do and see there -- especially from the air or the water.
Family friendly activities throughout Virginia.
Yet another web resource for finding stuff to do and see in Central Virginia.

AirportsHere are the airports we use for training
Tower controlled airfield that excels in its support of aviation training activities.  This mated with two large runways clear of most mechanical turbulence makes this an ideal airport for training.  This is where Precision Windsports is based.  We are one of the very few training companies operating out of a towered controlled field which means you will be able to operate out of them too when you are done.
This is a nifty little airfield consisting of a 3500' runway, a 1000' parallel grass strip, EAA club house, and nothing else.  It is used exclusively for training activities and is only 16 minutes away from Lynchburg Regional (by air).  This is the field we use to teach landings.
This unique field is home to more Piper Cubs and other vintage aircraft than any other airport I know of short of.  It is a little homely and can be challenging due to the fact the runway is on a hill and can be turbulent depending on the direction of the wind.  This makes it a good field to practice more advanced landing training.  It is only 10 minutes away from Lynchburg Regional by air.
This is a great cross country trip.  Smith Mountain airport is 30-45 minutes away from Lynchburg Regional and is located right at the lake.  It is a neat little field to land and stretch your legs after touring the lake by air.
  •  Buffalo Ridge Airpark

Buffalo Ridge is a private field dedicated to ultralights and hang gliders.  It consists of two grass strips and is a phenomenal field for familiarizing students with the joys of grass strip takeoffs and landings.  And for training students using the Wizard 3 wing it is the best spot.

Buffalo Ridge is located in Amherst 25 miles north of Lynchburg.  It is another great X-ctry location as well as a great training location.
